Privacy and simplicity in my webpages
Style
Why are my webpages so simple? Why don't I make them modern and stylish?
It horrifies me that most webpages have degenerated into mere style over substance. For some reason I don't understand, most people seem to value superficiality over content. I try to concentrate on content and clarity.
Privacy
It has become uncomfortably common today to embed megabytes of scripting and background images in webpages, often with little or no actual information content. What is worse, the scripts often track visitors and sell the data to ethically questionable marketing companies.
My website doesn't use cookies or trackers. I don't have advertisers here. My visitors deserve and have privacy.
Accessible
I don't have scripting on my pages, except for three small toys in the waffles section, and for my VRML worlds, which need javascript to display them, but nothing else does.
Simple, primitive web browsers work fine here (though not on the VRML worlds, of course). I use minimal HTML so as to load easily and quickly, even on old, slow computers using dial-up internet.
Feedback
I have "comment" links on my pages in the hope that people will give me feedback for my creations here. The comment links are anonymous by design, though they do let you give a name and/or contact address if you want me to reply, in which case your privacy will be respected. I will never sell or share any contact details. (I'm actually considering removing the comment links because genuine feedback is extremely rare. I mainly get spam from them, unfortunately.)
Commercial and non-commercial use
I always retain copyright on my works and they must be credited to me. On my death all my work must go to the public domain.
If you wish to use my work non-commercially you have my blessing. I'd love to be told if you do so, of course.
I'd be delighted for you to use my work commercially, for a negotiated fee.
